What is happening at Prospect Hall?

The Mansion Renovation

It’s taken six years of careful planning and painstaking preparation to get every detail just right, but we can finally share the news: Prospect Hall is officially under construction and will be opening in the winter of 2026 as both a private venue and community treasure.

A new entrance and parking area are taking shape, the gardens are being completely transformed, and by next spring, more than two hundred trees, shrubs, and flowers will create a warm, inviting welcome for visitors at every turn.Inside, the once-abandoned house is undergoing an extensive restoration and modernization.

An incredibly knowledgable and talented team has been meticulously stripping away layers of old paint, restoring original windows, rebuilding salvaged shutters, and reviving the hand crafted pocket shutters. Perhaps most impressively, they’re bringing the intricate leaded glass windows and grand entry doors back to life.

Modern systems—electrical, plumbing, and mechanical—are being installed with the utmost care, ensuring they blend seamlessly into the fabric of the historic structure. Expertly engineered supports are repairing damage to the third floor, while original old-growth pine moldings are being sanded and painted, plaster walls repaired, and brick chimneys restored to their former strength and glory.

We’re restoring what can be saved, rebuilding what’s been lost, and faithfully recreating what time has erased.

Who owns Prospect Hall?

The mansion was purchased by myself, Michele Sigler, and my husband, James Schultz, in 2019. We have been residents of Frederick County for most of our lives and we have adored Prospect Hall from a very young age.  We are honored to be the current caretakers of this special property and to be able to restore and share it with the community.
